Yesterday

This is dedicated to my friend who lost all his data yesterday. Now he ponders while shitting in his pants.

Yesterday,
All those backups seemed a waste of pay.
Now my database has gone away.
Oh I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly,
There's not half the files there used to be,
And there's a milestone hanging over me
The system crashed so suddenly.

I pushed something wrong
What it was I could not say.

Now all my data's gone
and I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay.

Yesterday,
The need for back-ups seemed so far away.
I knew my data was all here to stay,
Now I believe in yesterday

All I Want is You

I am not going to bother to blog about US Elections results. I am too darned depressed. I found a cure though. Apple just released this special edition iPod. Damn, I could use one right now. Probably I should setup a find like JeffOoi did for his server migration. The fund I shall call "The Great Depression Cure". Anyway, below is the specs for the masterpiece.

The gorgeous new iPod U2 Special Edition for Mac and Windows.

iPod Special Edition

Paint it Black

Like no other, iPod U2 Special Edition stands out. Jet black, it bears a prominent red Apple Click Wheel and, on the flip side, the autographs of each U2 band member. Available for just $349, it comes with an exclusive U2 poster and, of course, the signature white iPod earbuds. As an extra special treat, it includes an iTunes Music Store coupon you can use to get $50 off your purchase of "The Complete U2." As unique as the iPod itself, this digital boxed set brings together an amazing 400 U2 tracks. Songs span the band’s celebrated career. From "Boy" to "War" to "The Joshua Tree" to "Zooropa" to the soon-to-be-released “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb,” it includes every U2 album and brings us over 25 rare and unreleased tracks. Look for it on the iTunes Music Store at the end of November.

The Cure

Like other members of the iPod family, iPod U2 Special Edition makes listening to music sheer delight. The fabulous Apple Click Wheel lets you scroll through all your songs, albums and playlists effortlessly. And you can certainly keep plenty of your music on this 20GB iPod. In fact, after purchasing and downloading “The Complete U2,” you’ll still have enough room for as many as 4,600 other songs

Exclusive poster

No matter how much music or how many Audiobooks you bring with you, however, iPod Special Edition remains small and light enough to carry in your pocket: it’s no bigger than a pack of playing cards and weighs just 5.6 ounces. It also offers up to 12 hours of battery life, so you can listen to music practically all day. And thanks to 25 minutes of skip protection, you can lead a really active lifestyle — jogging, bicycling, skate- or snowboarding — without missing a beat.

What’s more, with iPod Special Edition, you enjoy the best auto-sync in the industry. Just connect iPod to your Mac or PC, and iTunes takes care of business, keeping both iTunes and iPod in perfect harmony. Whether you’ve imported new tunes from CDs or downloaded and purchased them from the iTunes Music Store, iTunes will quickly move them to iPod. Create any On-the-Go Playlists? iTunes will spot those right away, add them to your existing playlists, and update play counts and ratings at the same time.
